Dear colleagues and friends,

I returned from Paris on Tuesday, September 12 where I worked
closely with the SBC JYF 2006-07
group in Tours and in Paris. The group arrived on August 25 in Tours
and September 8 in
Paris. This is another excellent group of students. It is such fun to
finally meet the applicants.
Thank you for advising them so well and for your continued support of
the JYF program.

I am pleased to announce that Sweet Briar College recently hired Ms.
Jill GAVITT as Assistant Director of Admissions, Special Program
Recruitment.
She will visit several colleges and universities during the Study Abroad
Fairs schedule to help recruit for Junior Year in France and Junior
Year in Spain
programs. Although, I would like to visit each and every college
myself, I find that this is impossible. I will continue to visit
several each year but will
try to visit colleges which I have not yet had the opportunity to visit
in the past.
Ms. Gavitt is a Sweet Briar College alumna who majored in Spanish.
She was a participant in the SBC JYS program for one semester and also
worked on
the JET program in Japan. She has excellent international experience
and has been teaching Spanish for the past few years.
She recently spent last week with me in Paris and Tours to observe the
JYF program and interview current participants. I am confident that
Ms. Gavitt
will represent both programs well. I hope that you will find time to
introduce yourselves to Jill during her visit to your college.

Hopefully, I will see many of you at the Region VIII NAFSA meeting
in November.

Sincerely,

Margaret Scouten
Director, JYF
