Dear colleagues,

I hope that you were able to experience some rest and relaxation over
the summer before you begin another
busy academic year. We have been very busy in the SBC JYF office
working on
transcripts for the 2004-05 students who returned to the US in June.

I will be leaving for Paris on August 18 to prepare for the 2005-06
JYF arrival.
We have 101 students enrolled in the fall and academic year program from
28 universities
and colleges. They arrive on Monday, August 29 at which time we will
take them to
the charming city of Tours in the Loire Valley for a three-week
orientation program.

Before I leave for Paris, I wanted to announce our new JYF Summer
2006 Program. Summer Brochures
arrived today and we will be sending them to you along with the
2006-07 Year/semester brochures.
The program will begin on June 4 -July 2, 2006. This is a program for
students who already
have completed the intermediate level. We are offering three courses:

Advanced Composition and Conversation
French culture and civilization
Literature - if a minimum of 6 students enroll.

Since this is a pilot program, we are limiting enrollment to about 25
students.
Application deadline is April 1, 2006.

If you have any questions and/concerns, please do not hesitate to
contact me at
<jyf at sbc.edu>

Wishing you all a pleasant fall semester.

Sincerely yours,

Margaret Scouten
Director
