Dear Colleagues,

As we approach the end of the academic year, I want to thank you
all for your continued support and help in advising students for
the SBC JYF program. The 2004-2004 JYF consists of 79 students
from over 30 colleges and universities. This is slightly lower than
last fall (95) due to the economy and terrorist threats. However,
JYF is doing very well compared to many programs which have either folded
or lowered their enrollment to under 20 students.

This year was quite a challenge with three different Resident Directors.
However, the year ended on a very positive note. Mme Marie Grée,
a seasoned professional in the field of study abroad and former RD of
the SUNY at Stonybrook program in Paris, has done a wonderful job for us.
We are very grateful that she accepted the position in January after
Emile Langlois' departure on January 12. I am confident that your
students will have positive feedback this year.

Once again, I am extending an invitation to Members of the
Advisory Board Committee interested in chaperoning our 2004-2005 JYF group to
Paris. This fall our group will depart from New York on August 29,2004.
SBC JYF arrives in Tours on August 30 to begin the intensive orientation
prgram. JYF is happy to offer you a one week all expenses paid trip to Paris
and Tours. This will give you the opportunity to observe the
program first hand and to offer constructive criticism.
If interested, please advise as soon as possible.

The Advisory Board Committee Meeting is scheduled for the weekend of Ocotber
8-9 at the Yale Club. So please mark your calendars. Detailed information will
be sent to you later in July.

Wishing you all a restful and safe summer.

Sincerely,

Margaret Scouten
