Dear Accepted Applicants,
Congratulations on acceptance into the SBC JYF Spring Semester
program. I look forward
to meeting you in Paris in January.
I would like to ask those of you who have not yet sent in your
acceptance and deposit
to please inform us by email ASAP if you are planning to participate in
the JYF program.
Normally, we offer you 15 days to reply. Most of you have had this time
allotment.
However, several of you have not yet replied and there are several
students on a wait list.
I do not plan to accept more students until I hear back from you. So
please email my Assistant
by Wednesday, Nov. 1 at <sfauber at sbc.edu> concerning your plans. Thank
you so much.
Secondly, if you have decided to participate in SBC JYF spring semester
program, I will
need the TENTATIVE PROGRAM OF STUDY sheet completed by the end of this
week.
You may fax it to (434) 381-6283. You may not apply for a visa until I
place you in one
of the Paris universities (Paris III, IV, VII, IX ( Dauphine). DO NOT
WAIT UNTIL
THANKSGIVING BREAK TO DO THIS. IT WILL BE TOO LATE AND YOU WILL NOT
HAVE TIME TO OBTAIN A VISA. If you do not have the visa, you will nto be
able to travel
to France on the group flight on January 6, 2007. Please check the visa
requirements on our web site at
<www.jyf.sbc.edu> Some French consulates require a personal
appointment, some allow you
to send it in by mail. PLEASE READ THE HANDBOOK SENT TO YOU with your
acceptance
letter. You must have a passport valid until at least August 31. Many
Consulates close during the
Thanksgiving break and Christmas break. Therefore, you do not have much
time to apply.
However, you may not apply for the visa until we send you the necessary
documents (one of which is
your Proof of registration at a Paris instiutio of higher education).
Hence, I need the Tentative
program of study ASAP.
Best of luck
If you have any questions and/or concerns, please do not hesitate to
contact me or my Assistants
at <jyf at sbc.edu>
Sincerely,
Margaret Scouten
Director
