Charlottesville
Tuesday, March 20th 7:30 p.m., the former Prism Coffee House
BRIMS presents:
Irish set dancing with Timmy "the Brit" McCarthy
$10 at the door
All ages and skill levels welcome!

Timmy "the Brit" McCarthy comes to us from Ballyvourney in West Cork as a
dancing master who has epitomized the pure joy and vitality of the Irish Set
Dancing revival that is still in full steam around the world. Over 30 years
ago he met the late Johnny O'Leary and Dan Connell in Dan Connell's pub in
Knocknagree and the set dancing scene -particularly the polka/slide
tradition as practiced around Sliabh Luachra-would never have to worry about
becoming dormant ever again. Few teachers convey the earthiness and social
aspects of set dancing as well as its beautiful movements and physicality
like Timmy the Brit.
