1. Weds., Oct. 18 - Renaissance Dance at MAC in C'ville

Renaissance Dance, 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 7PM, Charlottesville
Municipal Arts Center.  No admission, but donations to cover the cost of the
hall appreciated.  Primarily English Country Dance of the early seventeenth
century and Italian dance of the late 16th.  No experience required,

2.  Weds., Oct. 18 - Irish Set Dance Workshop in C'ville

The Blue Ridge Irish Music School will hold an Irish Set Dance workshop with
live music
Wed. Oct. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Westminster
Presbyterian
Church on Rugby Road in Charlottesville.  Special instruction for beginners
will start
at 6:45 p.m.  Park in the lot behind the church in the area closest to
Gordon Avenue,
near the former Prism Coffeehouse building.  Enter the door to the
Fellowship Hall
of the church complex from this lot.  Subsequent workshops will be held the
third
Wednesday of the month in the former Prism space.

$7 at the door or $18 for Oct., Nov., and Dec.  Spectators are admitted for
$3.

    Music by: Goldcrest (Paul Oorts, Daron Douglas & Dave Weisler
                    & Catharsis ( Will Morrison, Jennifer Myer, Mary
Prendergast & Paul Rosen)

The Friday night dance and Sunday concert and dance are open
to the public first come, first served, if space is
available.  Friday's dance with Catharsis (Will Morrison,
Jennifer Myer, Mary Prendergast, and Paul Rosen), with
calling by Gaye Fifer and Tom Hinds, is $15.00 at the door,
8:00-11:00 PM.  Sunday's activities are $20.00 for the noon
concert and 12:45-3:00 dance with Goldcrest (Daren Douglas,
Paul Oorts, and Dave Wiesler) and calling by Kathy Anderson.
Pay at the door.

4. 3rd Sat. Staunton Contra moved to Friday, Oct. 27

The contra has been moved this month only to avoid a conflict with the
C'ville
Fall Festival. The Staunton monthly contra will be held Friday, Oct. 27 as a
Halloween contra - costumes encouraged. Details next week.

Directions to the Greenwood Community Center: Take I-64 to Route 250 (Crozet
exit). Go west to 690 (right turn) to 691 (right again) in Greenwood. The
Greenwood Community Center is on the right.
