Dear Friends,
I want to invite you to join with campuses across the nation on
Wednesday, April 16 at 12:00 noon for a moment of silence to honor all
who suffered in the Virginia Tech shootings one year ago. As we gather
in Prothro Commons for our regular noon meal, after some brief comments,
the moment of silence will begin, at which time the bell tower will
chime to recognize the lives lost that day. The tolling of the bell is
a time honored method of showing concern and solidarity with all who
mourn. The sound of the bell ringing across the campus will be a sign
of our hopes, prayers and well wishes for the Virginia Tech community
and all who are touched by the insecurity of our times.
In addition, a brief candlelight vigil will be held at 9 p.m. on the
steps of the Memorial Chapel.
Peace to all of you,
Adam
Chaplain of the College
