Attention Seniors!

Please remember that Friday, September 22, is Founders’ Day Convocation
at Sweet Briar, and also your first opportunity to wear your academic
robes. You may wear one sash on your left shoulder. No buttons, hood,
collar, or cap should be worn. Please line up at 2:45 p.m. in the former
Babcock Gallery and Art Wing. You will process into the auditorium and
be seated in your reserved seats in the center section.

Founders’ Day Convocation will take place at 3:00 p.m. with the
presentation of the Distinguished Alumna Award to Elizabeth Perkins
Prothro, Class of 1939, the first of five Prothro women to attend Sweet
Briar, and to contribute to the strength of this College. Mrs. Prothro,
who has made strategic contributions to several colleges and
universities, is being recognized for her distinguished philanthropy to
American higher education.

Keynote speaker for Convocation will be Sallie Bingham, nationally known
author, playwright, poet, feminist activist, philanthropist and founder
of the Kentucky Foundation for Women.

Following the convocation, a bagpiper will lead the procession up to
Monument Hill for the ceremony of the presentation of the memorial
flowers at Daisy’s grave. Seniors will be escorted by sophomores to the
monument, and juniors by their first year little sisters. Please wear
comfortable walking shoes. In the event of rain, the placing of the
memorial flowers will take place in the Memorial Chapel.

We hope that the Class of 2007 will participate in this important and
meaningful occasion. See you at 2:45 p.m. in Babcock on Friday,
September 22!
