Creative worship involves our whole persons in response to God. For
most of us, we leave the better part of ourselves at home and just bring
what we consider "religious" or appropriate to church. So, in
preparation for the Worship Leadership Conference this Sunday, March 4,
from 2pm to 7:30pm, at Sweet Briar Chapel, we are inviting you to break
out of the mold. Allow the creative Spirit of God to draw out the
creative gifts within you. Here are some tips on how to prepare and
what to bring to the Worship Leadership Conference:

*1. Bring something (anything) that you consider creative and
inspiring. This might be a song that you wrote or one that someone else
wrote that moves you. How about a poem, an essay, a painting, an art or
craft object you have created?

2. Look around your room at the things you use to decorate. Is there
something in particular that lifts you up when you are feeling down or
helps you get centered when your life gets off track? Bring it to the
Worship Leadership Conference.

3. Think ahead about yourself as a creative person. How do you express
the creative spark within you? Do you dance, draw, sculpt, paint,
write, sing, do stand up comedy, play an instrument, juggle, play out
favorite movie scenes, invent new games? As you come to the workshop,
bring whatever you need to share your creativity, but begin with an
openness to share and the faith that God will use it.

*This is an invitation from God through the Worship Leadership
Conference to be wild and creative. Don't leave the best part of
yourself at home as you come to worship this Sunday at Open Door! Just
another word for the curious in terms of our format. We will begin the
workshop with a skit/role play that will help us unpack our thinking
about worship. We will follow-up this experience with break-out
sessions and then a "rule breaking" experience where we dare to break
our standard rules and ways of thinking about worship services.

This is going to be a transformative experience that you won't want to
miss. It's not too late to plan to come if you haven't already
responded. For purposes of planning our catered meal at 5pm, we would
appreciate a confirmation of your attendance by emailing gbrewer at sbc.edu
or chaplain at sbc.edu. If you don't have time to come to the whole
workshop, that's fine. Just come to the part you do have time for or
show up at 6:30pm for Open Door service. It's going to be out of this
world. Chap
