Happy Holidays Sweet Briar!
In keeping with our annual tradition, the Chaplain's Office has
sponsored an
Angel Tree in Prothro. The ornaments on the tree are needs that have been
voiced in our surrounding community. The red ornaments are the needs of an
organization called Miriam's House. Miriam's House is located in
Lynchburg and
is a residence for homeless women living with AIDS, including some who have
children. In addition, it is a community in which compassionate
attention is
given to the housing, medical, personal and spiritual needs of its
residents.
The green ornaments are the needs of Tye River Elementary School in
Arrington.
The needs on these ornaments will go to a "clothes closet" kept by the
school
nurse for the children who are in need.
If you want to participate, please remove an ornament from the tree and
return
the gift unwrapped by December 10. The gifts will be collected daily and
stored
in the Chaplain's Office for safe keeping until they are distributed to
Miriam's
House and Tye River. If you would like to make a monetary donation,
please feel
free to drop it off in the Chaplain's Office (Lower Level of Dew) with the
label of "Angel Tree." Thank you so much for your help in making someone's
holiday a little brighter!
